Preparing yearlings for all major sales is a paramount part of Segenhoe’s business. While no one can guarantee commercial success, the solid foundation that yearlings receive at Segenhoe goes a long way to helping those yearlings in becoming the champions of tomorrow.
With an experienced and dedicated team that deal with the day-to-day handling of all yearlings leading into a sale, Segenhoe has achieved many highlights in the yearling sale ring in the past.
Having consigned numerous million dollar plus yearlings, including the top-price colt at the 2016 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale - Snitzel x Vegas Showgirl for $2.3million (also the highest priced yearling sold at sale in 2016) along with the top priced filly - 2 years in a row at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sales at Newmarket Sydney for 2015 & 2016. Segenhoe have now been leading vendor (10 or more) for 5 out of the last 6 major sales and leading vendor by average (10 or more) at the Australian Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for the past 3 years. Segenhoe prides itself on the quality drafts we present at each yearling sale we attend.
Segenhoe does an excellent job in preparing our yearling drafts for sale, and our tailored feeding and exercise regime, assessed weekly, allows the yearlings to be at their physical and mental peak from inspection time to sale.
The team also spend many hours on the educational processes needed to obtain the best result for your yearling come sale time.
Having yearlings who are not only well-presented, but also have the mental aptitude to parade correctly when being hand walked time and time again, as well as being able to stand correctly, helps each and every yearling present itself in the best way to a potential buyer.
Segenhoe also does all that we can to have as much exposure as possible on our drafts in the lead-up to each sale, advertising our drafts extensively before each sale as well as allowing potential buyers to inspect the yearling at any time on the farm.
Although yearling sale preparation at Segenhoe is important for us, the preparation of weanlings, broodmares and racing stock for sales is just as important. In the past Segenhoe has achieved much success away from yearlings, foaling, raising and selling weanlings that have made record prices for a weanling.
