Black type for Segenhoe bred – Ektifaa in South Africa

A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Shadwell from the Segenhoe Stud draft, More Than Ready (USA) filly Ektifaa broke through to win her first Black Type event beating the favourite Sail to win the 1400 metre sprint by three quarters of a length.

With three wins and three placings from six starts, the Mike de Kock trained filly has been a model of consistency and is the 165th stakes-winner worldwide for champion sire More Than Ready, whose top class son Prized Icon won the Group I VRC Victoria Derby on Saturday.

Bred by Fairway Thoroughbreds, Ektifaa is the first foal of minor winning Redoute’s Choice mare Stellar Vinia, a sibling to Group I winner Calveen, Group II winners Kosi Bay and Fireworks as well as stakes-winner Striker.

Stellar Vinia has a yearling colt by Sebring and produced another colt by the same sire this spring.
