Inglis Easter Success for Segenhoe

A year on from the current Segenhoe team presenting their first Inglis Easter draft, which was highlighted by a seven-figure filly, the dose was repeated last week with yet another stellar set of results.

Segenhoe were the only draft to finish in the top three for gross, median and average, and comfortably led the latter two categories amongst those consigning ten or more yearlings.

An average of $555,000 compares exceptionally favourably when compared to the sale average of $290,881, while the draft’s median price was $537,500, smashing the sale median of $200,000. In terms of stallion representation, Segenhoe also consigned the highest-priced horses by each of Fastnet Rock, High Chaparral, Medaglia d’Oro and Foxwedge.

The draft was led by an outstanding filly bred by John Camilleri’s Fairway Thoroughbreds – no surprise given that he is the breeder of the top-class pair of Vancouver and Fireworks amongst the current juveniles. She was lot 323, the Fastnet Rock filly out of the American-bred mare Candlelight and sold for $1,750,000 to Coolmore Australia. When bringing such an exemplary filly to a sale the hope always is that the breeder will be rewarded in the ring so it was great to see such strong competition for her and for her to go to a great home – best of luck to Coolmore with a beautiful filly.

Segenhoe Stud Manager Peter O’Brien said, “This was as good a draft as I’ve taken to a sale in thirty years and it speaks volumes for the skill and dedication of our clients in, between them, breeding such an excellent group of horses. It is great to see our clients rewarded in the sales ring, as they should be with the fantastic bloodstock they are producing.” He added, “the staff on the farm have put a tremendous amount of work and conditioning into these horses and I’m immensely proud of what we presented for sale – an average and median both over a half-million dollars is outstanding and I thank each of them.”

Thank you to all the buyers & Inglis for their wonderful support during the sale.
