Mimi’s Colt Heralds New Era For Famous Name
SEGENHOE Stud, in the ownership of the Maloney family since 2011, is one of this country’s finest and in that time former manager Royston Murphy and Bill Mitchell have worked hard to build up a world class broodmare band. Kevin Maloney and his family have spared no expense in bringing this to bear, making Segenhoe one of the leading farms in Australasia.
The work continues however, and another 202ha (500 acres) of virgin horse country is about to be developed, which will give Segenhoe even more capacity to meet each horse’s individual needs. Peter O’Brien, former Coolmore stalwart and now general manager of Segenhoe, is looking to the future with great enthusiasm.
“Everything is about att ention to detail and making sure that the animals have the very best to ensure they reach their potential,” O’Brien said. “We are blessed to have highly skilled, kind and caring staff . Key to the property is more than 10 kilometres of frontage to the Hunter River, with lluvial fl ats and lovely undulating paddocks and hills, ideal for the rearing of young horses. We have also opened our Segenhoe spelling complex, a state of the art facility, which gives us the opportunity to manage our clients’ needs from a horse’s conception, and then not only on to the sales ring, but beyond that into their racing careers.
