Our Boy Nic delivers very early Christmas present for Segenhoe
While it may not even be the end of October yet, three-year-old colt Our Boy Nicholas produced an excellent effort at Canterbury on October 25, winning the Schweppes Maiden Plate over 1550m by one-and-a-quarter lengths.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse, the More Than Ready colt was having his fourth career start and with jockey Tommy Berry in the saddle recorded a dominate victory over the Dane Shadow colt Prodane, a half-brother to the Group One performed Proisir.
Settling in the one out one back position, the colt pounced on the turn, dashing away with the ease of a good horse.
Out of the Listed-winning Redoute’s Choice mare Presenting, a half-sister to Group Two Challenge Stakes winner Light Up The World, who is in turn the dam of the Group Three-winning Group One placed World Peace, Our Boy Nicholas was secured from the draft of Baramul Stud at the 2012 Magic Millions yearling sale for $475,000.
With such a great pedigree that includes Group One winners Thorn Park and Bentley Biscuit, if Our Boy Nicholas can improve and capture a Group One event, then he is assured of a stallion career!
