Polarmore impressive at Randwick

John O’Shea looks to have a talented three-year-old on his hands as Polarmore blows rivals away on the Kensington track at Randwick.

By More Than Ready out of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and costing $500,000 as a yearling, Polarmore recorded his maiden victory at his second start with a convincing win over Supreme Effort and Wonderbolt.

“He made nice improvement from his run the other day, he appreciated the three weeks between runs, perfectly ridden by James and a nice progressive horse,” O’Shea said.

“I think he needs to get some experience under his belt, he has got to still learn his trade, it is no good coming back in the autumn wanting to run in a good race with something that has only had two starts.

“We will probably just try and go through his grades and build up a resume that says he is a nice horse.”

The victory gave James McDonald an early double from the first four races and the talented hoop feels Polarmore is best suited over shorter distances.

“He is a very smart horse, I think he is going to improve a lot off that run going forward he is a smart colt in the making,” he said.

“The way he raced today, he put himself in the race, travelled beautifully, it wasn’t the plan to be that close, that first 100m in to the straight he went so quick, he was coasting to the  ine, he has got a lot to work with going forward.

“I think he is a genuine sprinter, I’d be recommend that they keep him to the shorter distances.”

Purchased from the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale from the draft of Twin Palms Stud as lot 332 for $500,000, the exciting colt is raced by Segenhoe Stud in partnership with Echo Beach Bloodstock Pty Ltd, Encompass Bloodstock, Greenwich Stud Pty Ltd, Vinery Stud and Werrett Bloodstock Pty Ltd.

With a great partenrship forming between trainer John O’Shea and Segenhoe Stud through the likes of the Group Two-winning, Group One placed Bound For Earth as well as the stakes-placed stayer Iggi Pop, we look forward to the future racing career of the impressive Polarmore.
