Centre Pivot Wins Three From Last Four

Sam Kavanagh’s impressive start to 2015 got even better as Centre Pivot recorded another victory for the stable at Royal Randwick.
The win was his seventh from 13 starters, an amazing strike rate for the promising young trainer.
Centre Pivot consistent recent form led to him carrying a big weight of 59.5kg but it mattered little as he settled off the speed and then finished strongly in the middle of the track to defeat Sasenkile and Proper Madam.
“Early on in his preparation I was worried when he was going to win a race because he just kept racing well but not getting the result,” Kavanagh said.
“Now he has won three from seven since joining the stable.
“He is thriving in his work, he has put on 5kg since his last run.
“He was light and stressy but he is maturing as the preparation goes on.”
Kavanagh said he is due to sit down and chat with connections on Sunday to decide whether Centre Pivot has another run this preparation.
“There is a benchmark 90 in two weeks time which I think would be ideal,” Kavanagh said.
“I’ve got to speak with Bill Mitchell from Segenhoe and we will decide what to do.
“We could go for one more and then give him a decent break and aim at the spring.
“Or just back off him a touch now and then aim towards the winter.”
