Edmonds And The Thief
Well-travelled Game Thief secures second career win for the Segenhoe Stud team
Having his first start for the Gold Coast-based trainer Toby Edmonds after being transferred from a Melbourne stable, four-year-old Bernardini gelding Game Thief showed his liking for the Queensland sun, winning at his first start in the state.
Starting well in the market off the back of an impressive trial performance a few days prior, the Jackson Morris ridden runner settled last in the field of seven, but when it counted, he made his move to get up and score by a neck margin from Isla Poppy with a further neck back to Storm Fighter.
Out of the Lion Hunter mare Phoenix Hunter, the grey son of Darley stallion Bernardini has now had nine career starts, being in the top four in eight of those starts.
Trainer Toby Edmonds has had great success for the Segenhoe Stud team with the likes of Spurs And Sashes, Total Response and Tulla Touch all winning in recent starts.
