Fairway Thoroughbreds dominates HTBA 2015 Awards
On Wednesday evening, the annual Hunter Valley Thoroughbred Breeders Association celebrated yet another huge year of achievements from the epicenter of breeding in Australia.
As every year passes, so to comes a new breed of champions – both on & off the track.
This year ‘s awards were made even more special for Segenhoe. Recently we farewelled – not only a Segenhoe stalwart but also a very unique mare that any farm would love to have in their broodmare band.
Her name was Skating.
Skating past away peacefully at the age of 25 – just a week before her grandson by rising star Medaglio d’Oro – would dominate the Golden Slipper and soon after be sold for over $40million.
Skating’s legacy certainly lives on through her daughter Skates – who still resides at Segenhoe and we are delighted for John & Deb Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds that she was announced as HTBA Champion Broodmare of 2015.
Skates produced this year’s dominant 2-year-old superstar – Vancouver.
But it wasn’t the only award for Fairway Thoroughbreds on the night – they also took out;
HTBA Champion Breeder – 3yo Filly – Winx – (Street Cry x Vegas Showgirl)
HTBA Champion Breeder – 2yo Colt – Vancouver – (Medaglio d’Oro x Skates)
We congratulate our good friends John & Deb Camilleri – that have a real knack of breeding champions.
Segenhoe also celebrated in the success of Dissident – who we obtained a small share of earlier in the year – as he was crowned – 2015 HTBA – Champion Horse of the Year.
