Guepardo successful on debut

Heading to the track for the first time, three-year-old Flying Spur gelding Guepardo recorded a classy one-and-a-quarter length victory over Prime Target in the Halekulani Bowling Club Maiden over 1200m at Wyong.

Having had four barrier trials to build up his fitness for his debut run, the performance of the John O’Shea-trained Guepardo indicated that the experience gained in his trials really assisted, claiming the victory with ease for Hugh Bowman.

With four lengths to the third horse, the victory indicated that the gelding does have his fair share of ability and a jump in grade at his next start is highly likely.

Purchased from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2012 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale for $100,000, Guepardo is out of the Group Three-winning, American-bred Grand Slam mare Sprung, a half-sister to the Group One Santa Anita Oak Leaf Stakes winner Tali’sluckybusride.
