Record Results At National Broodmare Sale
Segenhoe Stud were in the thick of things on the third day of the 20014 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale on the Gold Coast.
Three lots shared the third highest price, each selling for $575,000. The first of these came for the Segenhoe Stud-consigned Lot 1092, Regrowth (Unbridled’s Song), who sold to Josh Hutchins Bloodstock.
Sold in foal to Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), Regrowth (pictured below) won twice at Listed level and has produced five winners from five foals to race with her best to date being the 2009 SAJC Breeders’ Stakes (Gr 3, 1200m) winner Colour (More Than Ready).
“We were delighted with price for Regrowth but she is such a beautiful mare who throws smashing types and I think the Hutchinsons will have great success with her,” Peter O’Brien of Segenhoe Stud told ANZ Bloodstock News.
It was Segenhoe Stud who purchased the second lot to sell for $575,000 yesterday, the Newgate Farm-consigned The Party Stand (Thorn Park), who was catalogued as Lot 1171.
Segenhoe Stud also purchased her weanling filly by Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) on Monday for $350,000.
Winner of the 2011 New Zealand Stakes (Gr 1, 2000m), The Party Stand has a yearling colt by Stratum (Redoute’s Choice) and was sold in foal to Exceed And Excel (Danehill) on a 9 September cover.
Her second dam is Cremisi (Royal Academy) making her a half-sister to the Group placed Crimson Lady (Volksraad), with this being the family of the Oakleigh Plate (Gr 1, 1100m) winning sire Kenvain (Kenmare).
“I thought The Party Stand (picture top) was a beautiful mare,” Peter O’Brien said.
“Not only is she a Group One winner but she is in foal to a champion stallion and by a broodmare sire I love.
“She will most likely be bred to Fastnet Rock this season,” O’Brien added.
